Restoring works reinforced the surface of the cave and its rich and separate scheme, made of rural and polychrome and multi -material materials that feature shells, glass pastes, semi -precious stones, stone fragments and metal scales.
The prominent elements include the four canephora statues – originally six, but lost – bearing baskets filled with golden fruits on their heads; The representation of a white eagle, the symbol of the Este family, in the middle of the cellar; Marine scenes on the ceiling, legends on the walls they head to “Metamorphowses”. The floors deserve special attention to their various deportation. For example, one in the glazed terrakotta contains the hexagonal tiles that alternate the rows of eagles, apples and lies, while the floors in Loggia are characterized by square elements in beige and brown totta.

Over time, the materials were severely dangerous, stand -alone sculptures were missing, and decorative elements deteriorated quickly due to environmental conditions, and mosaic and glass tiles showed signs of degeneration.
Starting in the autumn of 2023, the two -year conservation project, which Vindi, aims to recover the unique features of the darkest, not only maintaining interior decorations but also on the architectural structures that support external facades, which are constantly exposed to weather conditions. One of the most important steps was the installation of a glass panel in Loggia overlooking Rome, a solution designed to protect the cave from the winds that have contributed over the centuries to the erosion of its most fragile materials.
